Nature asserts itself in the Argentine Patagonia. Its 11 National Park, its countless reserves and protected natural areas, the places declared Natural and Cultural Heritage of Humanity speak of a vast territory that has known how to preserve its resources.

A thousand-year-old larch park with specimens of over 2000 years is the scenario for long walks in Los Alerces National Park in the province of Chubut, 50 kilometers from the city of Esquel. This park invites you to experience kayaking and floating in its marvelous rivers and lakes.

 

Also in Chubut, in the Puelo National Park, you can practice hiking or rambling and trekking surrounded by unique vegetation. There, under the guidance of instructors, it is possible to surrender to the Patagonian winds in colorful paragliders.

The diversity of the fauna and flora of the Lihuél Calel National Park in the province of La Pampa constitutes a biological island full of life among rock formations and long valleys that give life to a wild and different landscape. There, you can observe different expressions of rock painting art and enjoy the large extension of the Pampean land through the practice of mountain bike.

The Monte León National Park is an exceptional place for watching the sea life in the province of Santa Cruz. Their beautiful cliffs facing the Atlantic Ocean are a unique spot for watching colonies of imperial, red-leg, rock, and blackish oystercatcher shags, Magellan penguins and sea lions.

The Los Glaciares National Park is home of the main glaciers. You can reach them from boats and hike or climb them. Nature watching is remarkable in this area of majestic condors. Among lakes and mountains, far from the main tour centers of the province, the Perito Moreno National Park offers matchless bird-watching opportunities: from condors, guanacos [Lama guanicoe], choiques [ small rheas ], red and gray foxes to an enormous variety of lake avifauna like the black-necked swan, coots and geese.

The southernmost Natural Protected Area and the Tierra del Fuego National Park, one of the few with maritime coast, are located 12 kilometers from the city of Ushuaia. The different trails with signposts in the Park take you through woods of coihues [ Nothofagus dombeyi] lengas [Nothofagus pumilio] and cherry trees reveling panoramic spots to be amazed by the glacier landscape where deep valleys occupied by lakes, alternate with rivers and turbales [a raised sphagnum moss bog typical of Tierra del Fuego].

In the Lanin National Park, in the province of Neuquén, the majestic Lanin volcano is one of the region's worldwide known landmarks. The extensive area of this park includes places for fishing, hunting, lake excursions, and takes in a considerable part of the Seven Lakes circuit that joins the city of San Martín de los Andes with Villa La Angostura, going through lakes of indescribable beauty.

A singular landscape of volcanic sand characterizes the Laguna Blanca National Park, between the cities of Neuquén and Aluminé, inviting you to watch the numerous birds. The Los Arrayanes National Park, also in Neuquén, protects one of the most beautiful woods in the world: the myrtle wood, which colors fascinate visitors from all over the world.

One of the largest national parks of Patagonia is the Nahuel Huapi, on the banks of the lake with the same name that joins the provinces of Neuquén and Río Negro. From the city of San Carlos de Bariloche and from Villa La Angostura you can choose lake excursions that take you to different parts of the park or to the Victoria Island. Rides along the bank of the Mascari or Gutierrez lakes, trekking and climbing their well-known mounts, allow you to enjoy the Patagonian nature in its fullest splendor.
